UFC Fight Night 17 FIGHTER PREDICTIONS: Joe Lauzon vs Jeremy Stephens
By Mike Denny for MMA Sports

Wanderlei Silva

Lauzon has incredible Jiu-Jitsu. I've watched him many,
many times and he is a great fighter. I think he will win."

Matt Riddle

I think Jeremy Stephens unless it goes to the ground then
lauzon... but i think stephens is gonna pull an upset.

Thiago Alves

I think Lauzon will win this fight.

Amir Sadollah

Undecided on this one.

Cole Miller

Gotta go with Joe Lauzon 2nd round TKO.

Joe Lauzon

Lauzon by Submission. First round...

Branden Ocasio

Joe Lauzon is a great fighter with good stand up..has the knockout power to end it... but jeremey i think has more power but not as technical as joe... but im givin this to stephens by ko in the 2nd.

Thomas "Wildman" Denny

Dont really know stephens but I like sum Jlau!!!!!!

Joe Duarte

gotta go with Jeremy...he is one of my homies and my training partners when he comes to San Diego. I think he will be able to
keep it standing and KO Lauzon. Jeremy is heavy handed, so I think he will get the better of this fight.

Thomas Kenney

Jeremy is a real tough but I think Joe is going to overwhelm
him with his agressiveness. Joe TKO in the 2nd.

Ryan Loco

I predict you are going to get a lot of predictions, most of which will probably be wrong. So therefore, I will predict that this fight will end in either a tko or submission victory, unless it goes to a decision. Joe Lauzon will win, unless he loses, in which case, he won't win.

Call me crazy.

Noah Thomas

Joe Lauzon vs. Jeremy Stephens is an interesting match up. I think Stephens is a lesser threat to Joe than Hermes was, yes Jeremy hits hard and has excellent boxing... especially for MMA where most of the time people get away with just throwing hands and getting the take down. Honestly the level of striking in MMA, vice a couple of top fighters, is not any where near the level of most golden glove boxers. But striking isn’t every thing and that’s where Joe comes into play. He has been working with Steve Hollywood, a former boxing instructor for Don King, so he is getting a lot more dangerous… and most of all knowing when the openings for his takedowns are coming. So Joe's standup is developing and his ground game which has always been great is also getting better. He has been training with BJ Penn and you can really see it in his rolling, if you know what to look for. Joe has also brought in other jiu-jistu practitioners to help him out as well. One more asset that I feel is a huge advantage is his little brother Dan Lauzon. Although a lot of people, me included feel that he did not have a strong showing at the Affliction fight. I personally know Dan and believe me he is way better than that! A short lay off mixed with opponent changes and a big stage can put a funk on a person. With that being said Joe and Dan push each other with no sympathy for each others feeling and they know each other so well, they can exploit each others weaknesses and make each other work harder than a unknowing opponent.

So in closing I obviously know a lot more about Joe than I do Jeremy, but looking back at fights fought, and styles, and strengths I call Joe 2nd round choke.
