Mike:
How have you Been?
Wanderlei: Very good, thank you.
Mike: You’re coming off of a very exciting fight
with Rich Franklin, what were your thoughts on how the fight went?
Wanderlei: It was a very good match and good show for the fans. I think
I gained a lot of new fans around the world and in Europe.
Mike: How did you like fighting at that weight
class?
Wanderlei: It is a perfect division for me. Maybe it is possible of
the UFC to make this a new division. I am small for 205 in the UFC,
but big at 185. 195 would be perfect.
Mike: It was a very close fight, do you think
the decision was fair?
Wanderlei: It was a tough decision, but I think I won the fight. I want
a rematch at 205. I want to fight him in my division in February. I
am waiting for him.
Mike: Do you know when fans may be able to see
you fight next?
Wanderlei: I would like to fight in February.
Mike: You will also be competing in the MW class
now, is there anyone at that weight you would like to face first?
Wanderlei: Dan Henderson. The last time we fought I was sick, I would
like a re-match.
Mike: There have been some words exchanged between
you and former teammate Anderson Silva... is this a fight you would
like in the future, and how do you think that fight would go?
Wanderlei: I am waiting for the future.
Mike: Last time I talked to you, you were about
to open your gym... now that it’s up and running,
I just wanted to see how it has been going?
Wanderlei: Very good. Please visit my website, www.wandfightteam.com,
or if you come to Vegas visit us at 4631 Dean Martin Avenue or call
us (702-538-8300). I have 250 students already in only four months.
I have created a new system of training for all levels.
Mike: If they brought a tag team title to MMA,
and put you in the tournament... who would you want to have as your
partner?
Wanderlei: At Heavy Weight I would want Mike Whitehead.
at 185 I would choose Demian Maia.
at 205 I would choose Vitor Vianna.
and at 170 I would choose Jorge Lopez.
These are all members of Wand Fight Team!
Mike: Who in your opinion is the best pound for
pound fighter in the world?
Wanderlei: GSP, Anderson, and Fedor. However, there are a lot of good
fighters out there who just don’t get opportunities to fight.
