EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with TIM BOETSCH
Interviewed by Mike Denny for MMA Sports. Photo by Josh Hedges, courtesy of Zuffa, LLC

1- Hows it goin man?
Tim Boetsch- really good. just training hard for sept 6th.

2- What kind of background do you have in martial arts?
T-I have wrestled my whole life. I now focus on jiu-jitsu and muay thai kick boxing. I work a bunch of other styles in there too as needed. You need to know a little bit of everything so no one can surprise you in the octagon.

3- Yeah definately man, and how did you end up getting into MMA?
Tim-I lived with Mike Ciesnolevicz for a few years in college. after we graduated Mike moved to Iowa to train at MFS. He called me a couple years later and asked if i would be interested in doing a couple amateur fights. I jumped on the opportunity even though i wasn't even close to being in shape. I won my first two amateur fights in about a minute each. I was hooked at that point and decided to turn pro right away.

4- You made your UFC debut against David Heath, after stepping in as a replacement, and annhilihated him...could you give us your thoughts on that fight?
T-I didn't expect the fight to go that way at all. I was thinking i would get in there, get the take down and ground and pound him for the win. as you saw that wasn't the way it went down!

5- Haha well you did THROW him down once, and then you came in again and faced Matt Hammil again on short notice, and put on a hell of a fight...but ended up losing...could you also give us your thoughts on that fight?
T- Altitude stinks!!! I gassed in about three minutes and couldn't recover at all. Matt is a tough guy and I expect him to do well. I know I could have done better than what happened in Denver. Oh well. I learned a lot from that fight and will come back better than ever.

7- Where are you training at now?
T-Triple threat fighting systems, Sunbury, PA.

8- How is it going so far?
T-Real good. we are right on schedule.

9- Good to hear ,What has been your best MMA memory so far?
T-Winning my UFC debut against David heath

10- What if you could play MMA Matchmaker for a day, what is one fight that you would have to see?
T- Anderson Silva vs. GSP

11- I would love to see that one, but is there anyone at LHW that you would like to fight next?
T- The winner of the Liddell vs. Evans fight.

12- Speaking of the LHW fight between Liddell and Evans, who do you think will win this?
T- Honestly I think Chuck will knock Rashad out.

13- Why do you think there was much controversy over the decision in the Forrest vs Rampage fight?
T- Because the former champ usually gets the call in a close fight, but I was at the fight and forest definitely won.

14- And my typical closer, if they were to make a movie about Tim Boetsch, who would they have in the lead role?
T-Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan the Barbarian as Tim Boetsch.

15- haha! any parting words for the fans?
T- Thanks for all the support and get ready for a good fight on Sept 6th!!!!
