Since winning The Ultimate Fighter by knocking out Brendan Schaub, Roy Nelson has gone on to knocking out 6'11" Stefan Struve. His next opponent at UFC 117 will be his toughest test when he takes on knockout artist Junior Dos Santos.

Mike: Hi Roy, just wanted to start off by saying congrats on the big win over Struve. What were your thoughts on the way that fight went?
Roy: I was happy that the fight went quick, because as everybody knows I am lazy.

Mike: The huge reach he had, didn't even come into play. Were you at all worried about that going into the fight?
Roy: He has long reach, but this is MMA so you can negate his reach with grappling,
and by closing the distance and doing some dirty boxing.

Mike: There was also a strange power outage right as you guys made your way to the cage, was that the strangest thing that has happen before a fight for you? Did you think the fight or event may end up canceled at all?
Roy: The strangest thing to happen in the UFC before a fight… was definitely the power outage. I have another pre-fight story but that is for another day. (laughs) I knew the fight was going to go on, but when, I had know idea.

Mike: You won season 10 of the Ultimate Fighter. You were already an established fighter in the MMA world, but what do you think the show has done for your career?
Roy: The show introduced me to the casual MMA fan, and the UFC fans.

Mike: Would you go back in and do it all over again, if given the chance?
Roy: Yes, I won the tournament. I became the ULTIMATE FIGHTER.

Mike: Also if asked, would you ever consider coaching a season?
Roy: I would love to coach a season, I tried to get on season 11 to be a coach, just to show how well I have improved from season to season.

Mike: Your next fight is against highly regarded prospect Junior Dos Santos.
What are your thoughts on him?

Roy: Junior Dos Santos is the number 1 contender, and I feel honored that I have the chance to fight him. And the winner of this fight, should get the title shot after Cain gets his.

Mike: How do you feel the two of you matchup style wise?
Roy: Match up wise it is great. You have two warriors going at it, but only one can win. I think it’s a test for me, and a test for Junior, because we are both the best in the world.

Mike: How do you see this fight ending?
Roy: I hope quick since I really don't like to have wars. But I am always game to go fifteen minutes.

Mike: Fill in the blank time! After the fight Junior Dos Santos will____________ ?
Roy: Ask to train with or ask for advice from Roy Nelson.

Mike: After a big win, what’s your favorite victory meal?
Roy: I really don't have a victory meal, but pizza, and chicken fingers are always good.

Mike: You have proven to be a well conditioned, well rounded fighter, do you feel some people look past you or underestimate you because you are not built like Lesnar or some of the other fighters?
Roy: No, I think people know I am not a bodybuilder and I don't take supplements.

Mike: You have beat Frank Mir in a grappling competition in the past, is that a fight you would like to have in the cage?
Roy: I would like any fight that stands in the way of my dreams.

Mike: Out of all your fights, do you have one that is the most memorable to you?
Roy: Yes, my first loss is my first memorable fight. It is the one I learned the most from.

Mike: Out of everyone you have fought, sparred with, trained with etc...who has hit you the hardest?
Roy: Josh Curran is the guy who I ran into the most punches from that hurt my head.

Mike: And on the opposite side, what do you think is the hardest shot you have landed?
Roy: I don't think I have hit anybody yet, with my hardest shot.

Mike: If they brought a Heavyweight Tag Team Title into MMA and you were entered into the tournament, who would you want as your partner?
Roy: I would like to have any heavyweight on my team, because I believe in the "I" in WIN, so I would carry the team.

Mike: Last one. If they made a movie about your life, who would you want to play the role of Roy Nelson?
Roy: Roy Nelson of course! There is only one person who can play me, and that is me.

Mike: Anything you would like to add?
Roy: I want to thank all the fans that watch our sport and my friends and family that support me, The Country Club, Tapout, and superaction.com.

Mike: Thanks for your time Roy, best of luck in your upcoming fight!
