RON SPARKS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
By Mike Denny for MMA Sports

Unbeaten in his Mixed Martial Arts professional career, Ron Sparks also known as “The Monster”, is sporting a 7-0 record. MMA Sports caught up with Ron as he discusses his ultimate goal, wanting to fight Kimbo and Fedor and a 14 second Knockout.

Mike: How's it going Ron?
Ron: Good.

Mike: Could you tell us a little bit about your background, and how you became interested in Martial Arts?
Ron: When I was about 7 yrs old, I watched the movie “Enter the Dragon” and I wanted to be just like Bruce Lee.

Mike: Great movie, so how did you get your start in MMA?
Ron: Jason Y, coach of Louisville MMA, Told me to come and give it a try. I was hooked at that point… and been doing it ever since.

Mike: You are undefeated in 4 fights, and haven't had one go past the 1:10 mark of the first round. Do you like to get in and get it done quick, or would you like to go later in a fight and see how you do?
Ron: I am actually undefeated in 7 fights. I like to get in and get the job done. My last fight went all four rounds with Jonathan Ivey, but there is nothing I enjoy more than knocking a person out!

Mike: Sorry about that… Websites need to update there stats! haha. Out of the fights you have so far, which one has been the most memorable to you?
Ron: The fight with Jim Davis from Team Quest. He was undefeated, 310 lbs, a big time banger, you know?... and I knocked him out in 14 seconds! He was snoring and then people in the crowd started crying. He was knocked out for over 5 minutes. When he finally came to, it was announced “Jim Davis is alive!!” I loved it!

Mike: Where do you currently train and who are some of the guys that get you prepared for your fights?
Ron: I train with Louisville MMA. Some of the guys there are John Troyer, Matt Troyer (Fought for Bodog Fights) and Bobby Lashley who just won his fight against Bob Sapp on Pay-Per-View.

Mike: How did you get the nickname “The Monster”?
Ron: It was given to me by BJ Santiago, from the AFL. He said I come out fast, strong, and it’s scary as hell. The name “The Monster” was mine from then on.

Mike: Nice. What is your Ultimate goal in MMA?
Ron: Well I currently hold 4 belts. The last one was RFL, I want the Bellatore Heavy Weight Belt and then from there… I want to move on to the UFC.

Mike: The next season of TUF is going to be heavyweights, was that something that interested you, and did you tryout?
Ron: No, I didn’t tryout because it doesn’t interest me. I have too many big things in the future such as Japan and Bellatore.

Mike: It has a few big names this season including- Wes Sims, Roy Nelson, Scott Junk and Kimbo Slice… do you have a prediction on who will take this season?
Ron: I will say… Roy Nelson and I want Kimbo for myself! I’d like to knock him out!

Mike: If you could get in the cage with any MMA fighter, who would you like to get in there with?
Ron: Fedor Emelianenko.

Mike: If you could play matchmaker for a day, what's one fight you would love to set up and watch go down as a fan?
Ron: Bob Lashley and Brock Lesnar.

Mike: That would make a killing on PPV! If they made a movie about your life, who would you want them to get to play the role of Ron Sparks?
Ron: Clint Eastwood....20 years ago! (he laughs)!

Mike: That's all I got for you man, anything you wanna close with?
Ron: Put me on the front cover!! Or I will come and get you!! (he laughs)!

Mike: My editor makes those decisions, and his name is Elie... if you need any more info about him let me know! haha.
