I recently had the pleasure of interviewing
the one and only Jason “Mayhem” Miller. Not only has he been a staple
in the MMA community for the last 10 years, but recently has his own
show on MTV called BULLY BEATDOWN. I got to get inside of Mayhems ridiculous
head and get the lowdown about his new show as well as a few lingering
questions people have had on their minds. It was a hysterical interview
and the perfect victim for my first interview. Enjoy.
Jenevieve: Congrats on your new Success with
the show Mayhem.
Mayhem: Thank you very much (in an Elvis voice)
Jenevieve: (laughing) So how did you come about
getting your own show, Bully Beatdown?
Mayhem: What do you mean? It’s a funny ass concept and they needed the
right guy to fit in and it was me. The MTV execs had saw some of my
crazy antics and interviews on YOUTUBE and approached me.
Jenevieve: How did you come up with the idea?
Mayhem: MTV said they needed a crazy aggressive and outgoing guy to
run this new show they had in mind about bully’s getting beat up.
Jenevieve: (laughing) Well I guess you would
be the perfect character to run a show like this then. I used to live
in Hollywood and some of the places look familiar, where was the show
filmed?
Mayhem: Everything was done in southern California, mostly Los Angeles,
the valley and ventura county.
Jenevieve: Aww I miss those days… so jealous.
So what’s your funniest story from the show?
Mayhem: The show is pure comedy. I don’t have one favorite. They are
all funny. I mean one week some guy projectile vomited all over the
cage and another guy gets called out on roller blades. It was hilarious.
It should be borderline illegal what they are doing! (laughing)
Jenevieve: Yeah the show is awesome and it seems
like its doing great too. So were you nervous doing the show with all
the cameras in your face?
Mayhem: Are you kidding? No way. I’ve been doing this for 10 years now.
I get punched in the face for a living. It’s all an act, whether the
show or my entrances. Come on I’m Mayhem Miller, have you ever SEEN
any of my entrances. (laughing) If I have a bad performance fighting
I get my ass kicked, but if I’m not funny on TV they cut it out. The
way I look at it, I’m an artist. Everything I do I put art into it.
My fights are an art. It’s all a performance piece.
Jenevieve: Yeah I can see where you’re coming
from. Do you get recognized a lot more now that you’re doing the show?
Mayhem: It’s a weird thing. Like people just stand and stare like I’m
Michael Jackson or something (laughing). Before it would just be like
a random MMA fan here and there wanting an autograph, now it’s completely
different. I mean its keeping me grounded though. I would love to be
living the Hollywood lifestyle going out drinking and partying, but
right now I’m training for my upcoming fight and staying focused.
Jenevieve: Yeah , I’m sure there’s lots of temptation
out there. On that subject, what’s your craziest girl fan story?
Mayhem: Because of MTV I get sexually assaulted by very young girls
everyday. Seriously, why the hell aren’t your parents watching your
internet! I’m an old ass fighter like 10, 12, 14 years your elder..
there’s something wrong with that! (laughing)
Jenevieve: Oh man, I can imagine though. At the
beginning of the show you said you were bullied growing up, is this
true?
Mayhem: Yes, but not up until the time of the picture they show of me.
I still looked like a dweeb so they kept the picture up, but at the
time of the picture I started standing up for myself.
Jenevieve: That picture is really funny of you.
(laughing) So is there a possibility of a 2nd season? And is there a
possibility of you fighting next season?
Mayhem: Yes because the numbers and ratings are really good and maybe,
you’ll have to watch and see.
Jenevieve: Oh you’re such a tease. So I heard
the show is scripted, what do you have to say about that.
Mayhem: Scripted... (laughing) no definitely not scripted, but the bullies
do know that they are going to be on the show. They just don’t know
what time or place we’ll be coming to get them at.
Jenevieve: Oh okay glad that’s cleared up. Are
you considering acting now after doing Bully Beatdown?
Mayhem: Of course. I’ll do anything, I’m a prostitute, I think we all
are in a certain way. I mean if I get asked to do a movie with Ashton
Kutcher, hell yeah, I’m going to jump on that.
Jenevieve: Good, because I think there’d be a
lot of disappointed fans. So you’re going to continue fighting after
this show since you already retired once?
Mayhem: I NEVER RETIRED!!! (cracking up) I never retired, I had said
retarded and some dumb interviewer guy thought I said retired. So I
played along with it.
Jenevieve: That brings me to my next statement/question.
(laughing) I was a little nervous to do this interview because I’ve
heard you’re a hard person to interview being so sarcastic. Do you have
any advice to future Mayhem interviewers?
Mayhem: I have to admit I was a little nervous when you first
started interviewing me, but then I realized you’re smart. I thought
oh she’s a smart chick and asks good questions and knows what she’s
doing, but a lot of people don’t. I feel like if I can interview people
when I get punched and kicked in the face for a living it must not be
hard. Any idiot with a microphone and internet connection can have his
own radio show nowadays, like really? I have a low tolerance for bullshit.
I hold them to higher standards and they should do the same towards
me. It’s all about integrity. Oh and also never ask me if there is anything
I want to add at the end of the interview. That’s the worst question
anyone can ask! What do you want me to say? I could run off at the mouth
for at least 15 minutes about nothing at all.
Jenevieve: Well Thank you so much for the time
today Jason and Good Luck with your upcoming fight! I know you’ll do
awesome!
mayhem: Thank you. It was a pleasure meeting you.
jenvieve: My pleasure.
