Since entering the UFC, heavyweight Junior Dos Santos has been a wrecking machine destroying every opponent including Gabriel Gonzaga, Gilbert Yvel, Mirko Cro Cop, Stefan Struve & Fabricio Werdum. Searching for that title shot, you can be sure there will be more knockouts to come. Next up is Roy Nelson at UFC 117.

Mike: Congrats on another big win! Could you give us your thoughts on how the fight with Gabriel Gonzaga went?
JDS: Thank you. The fight against Gonzaga went as planned, I think I executed my job well and once again came out with a KO victory, which is what I always look for in a fight.

Mike: You scored another big KO in that fight…Yvel, Werdum, Gonzaga, Cro Cop, Struve... which has been your favorite finish so far?
JDS: I am just so honored to be fighting such big names in the UFC, but personally my biggest accomplishment was in my fight against Cro Cop. I have always been a fan of his, and to be able to step in the cage against him was an honor itself, and having a great fight like we had was an amazing experience for me.

Mike: With the impressive list of wins in the UFC, you have to be close to a title shot. Do you feel you are ready for that?
JDS: I feel that I am at a point in my career where I am ready for the UFC title shot. I am in no rush, but if the UFC decides to give me that shot, I will be prepared.

Mike: Another guy close to that shot is Cain Valesquez, how do you think a fight between the two of you would go?
JDS: Cain has proven that he is a top contender in the division as well, I think a fight between him and I would be great and I believe the fans would really enjoy it too.

Mike: Is there anyone in particular you would like to fight?
JDS: I want to fight the best in the division, to get closer to the title.

Mike: You face Roy Nelson at UFC 117, what do you think of him as an opponent?
JDS: I think Roy Nelson is a dangerous opponent, many people underestimate him, but I think he will be a good challenge for me.

Mike: Do you think he can prepare himself against your power?
JDS: I think he is going to be surprised by my speed.

Mike: How do you think the fight will end?
JDS: I am always looking for the KO, and this fight will be no different.

Mike: What did you think of the Shane Carwin v Frank Mir fight?
JDS: I think Carwin showed that he has a lot of power; let’s see how he does against Lesnar.

Mike: Who do you see winning the Lesnar v Carwin fight?
JDS: That is going to be an explosive fight, I am eager to see who will come out as champion.

Mike: You have ended all your UFC fights on the feet, but also have a Black Belt under Nogueira right? Could you tell us a little bit about your ground game?
JDS: I am very confident in my ground game; I got my start in Jiu-Jitsu so I enjoy training it. I haven’t been able to show my ground game in the UFC, but when the time comes I will be ready.

Mike: How did you get started in MMA?
JDS: I started martial arts with Jiu-Jitsu. My Jiu-Jitsu coach felt I had a lot of talent and started showing me some stand up technique. After one year training I had my first MMA fight which I won by TKO. After that first fight I was introduced to Prof. Luiz Dorea, Brazil’s National Boxing Team’s coach. I have been training under Prof. Dorea ever since.

Mike: And could you tell us what you remember about your first MMA fight?
JDS: I had been training MMA for only about one year, so it was a great challenge, but I was able to come out with a great first
victory.

Mike: What are your thoughts on the signing of Heavyweight Boxer James Toney? And how do you feel he will do in MMA?
JDS: I think he will have a striking advantage, but in MMA you have to be prepared for everything, and he is not use to being taken down or kicked, so it’s complicated. I want to see how it
will turn out.

Mike: What is the most memorable moment in your MMA career?
JDS: Fighting Cro Cop was a great honor, personally it was my most memorable moment.

Mike: In all of your fights or training, what would you say is the hardest hit you ever landed?
JDS” I always hit hard, I train and fight with a lot of intensity.

Mike: And what would be the hardest you have ever been hit?
JDS: I don’t know, I think it would be in the gym.

Mike: Last one, if you were a superhero, what would your secret power be?
JDS: I would be lightning fast.

Mike: Thanks for the time Junior! We really appreciate it! And good luck in your next fight! Any last comments?
JDS: Thank you for the opportunity, I would like to thank all my fans who have been supporting me.
