EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with BENJI RADACH
THE RAZOR Benji Radach
By Tony Leone for MMA Sports. Photos courtesy of Tom Casino/EliteXC.

With his heavy hands, Benji Radach is one of those MMA fighters to watch out for. His knockout victory over Murilo “Ninja” Rua was to earn him an EliteXC title shot. Now that plan has changed and he is searching for a new home and some new challenges.

Tony: Congrats Benji on the big victory over ninja. That had to have been big for you, going into eliteXC like that?
Benji: Yeah it was huge. That’s all I wanted, to step in there and get in his face and see what he's got. I had a good time. Now that Elite XC just went down, I'm looking for somewhere else to lay it down.

Tony: Going into the fight you felt very comfortable?
Benji: Yup, I felt really comfortable. Lots of nerves and energy, but yes comfortable.

Tony: With such a solid training camp you came out off, that really paid off for the end result?
Benji: O Yeah, training with Mo Lawal and guys at HB really tuned in my game. Bas helped me for a few weekends as well.

Tony: Now you know we have to talk about it, Face smashing-fu, where did Face smashing-fu come from?
Benji: It was first announced in 2003 against Gustavo Muchado in King of the Cage. Hallman put it on my info sheet we had to turn in and then it just stuck and became kind of a joke.

Tony: Now that Elite XC has pretty much tanked, your next bout was supposed to be a title fight?
Benji: Yeah, I was going to fight the winner out of the Lawler and Joey Villasenor fight. Now I'm going to fight in a new organization all together.

Tony: Your thoughts on this crazy situation with eliteXC?
Benji: Well it sucks in some ways but also might end up in my favor. I wanted to get that main event pay day that was about to develop.

Tony: Do you see the light towards the UFC or a venue in Japan?
Benji: Either one is fine with me. Tough guys in both places. I Just wanna go where the money is.

Tony: If the Lawler fight does end up happening in another venue, do you feel you match up well against him?
Benji: Sure, I'm ready for anyone in my weight class. They all just vary depending on the match ups.

Tony: Rumors were flying about you having problems with the UFC? Are those Bullshit rumors made up by people who like to talk shit Benji.
Benji: Exactly Tony, I have no problems with the UFC, in fact I’ve seen them do a few things in the past that really made me think highly of them. For instance, the Nate Quarry surgery they paid for that they could have screwed him on. They paid it in full and it was like 150,000 dollars. Pretty cool.

Tony: Everybody is talking about the situation with Kimbo, "is Kimbo done?", do you think Kimbo is done or will he continue to grow as he continues to fight more?
Benji: I think he will continue for sure. He will get paid good again as well, but not as much.

Tony: Well thank you again Radach for taking the time and talking with me. You’re a tough fighter and I don’t see you waiting long before you’re picked up by an organization. Good luck and we'll all see you soon holding the crown.
Benji: Thank you Tony, I'm only getting better man, and I can't wait to keep climbing that mountain!
