MMA Sports staff writer Mike Denny goes Head 2 Head with Kendall Grove with predictions on UFC 97... and here are the results.
On Saturday the 18th, MMA SPORTS MAGAZINE made their prediction debut against, Hawaiian tough guy Kendall "The Spyda" Grove. With bragging rights on the line, I was hoping he wouldn’t make me look foolish and send me packing.

As soon as the cage door shut it was on, Grove came forward and kept pressing the action, and even going for a high risk prediction maneuver picking Leites over Silva, (the equivalent of a flying triangle choke?) as the fight was coming to an end and he was sensing he may need a spectacular finish to keep himself in the fight… unfortunately the risky move did not pay off and ended up hurting him even worse. The match ended up being pretty one sided, as Kendall went 0-4 on his predictions and I finished at 3-1.

All 3 judges scored the bout 29-26 for you winner and still undefeated... MMA SPORTS MAGAZINE!!!

Below are the original predictions......

Kendall: Shit this is a tough one, Anderson is pound for pound the best striker in MMA I think. His jiu-jitsu is good and it’s just his time, you know? But Leites' jiu-jitsu is so fucking good, and he has ok hands. I think Leites gets the upset in this one, and I wouldn’t mind seeing that.

Mike: This will be a closer fight then some people think, if it goes to the ground Leites could definitely take control...but I don’t think its gonna get there much, and Anderson will wear him down on the feet, dropping him with a straight in the 3rd.

Kendall: Both haven’t been so great lately, but I gotta go with Liddell, he is one of those guys who are just dangerous no matter what.

Mike: If this fight took place 2 months ago I would of picked Shogun, but his cardio has not been so hot… and he doesn’t look the same in his last couple of fights. I think Liddell gets
a win here.

Kendall: I honestly don’t know a whole lot about Cane, but Cantwell is an animal man. He just keeps improving…he got the belt over Stann and I think Steve will be a threat at 205 and he's still so young.

Mike: Cane has impressed me in every fight I have seen him
in so far, Cantwell looked good against Stann getting the belt and also in his UFC debut…but I think Cane will wait for his opportunity and take a little punishment, but drop Cantwell
with a big left.

Kendall: If Stann comes out and has good cardio I think he wins. He is very dangerous, and having the cardio gives you the confidence to let your hands go. You don’t worry about conserving energy when you have the cardio taken care of.
Mike: This one is a toss-up for me…although Soszynski is slightly more technical on the feet…Stann hits a lot harder. But I don’t think this fight will take place standing. I think Stann will get taken down and submitted by the more experienced Soszyinski.
